Our Team
Queenstown Trails is managed by an executive team of three and governed by a hardworking and dedicated volunteer board of trustees.
We are engineers, planners, lawyers, experts and advocates. We aim to connect people and places by bike and foot, we want to transform the school run and the daily commute and provide trails that inspire adventures. Ultimately delivering a happier, healthier community all because you can safely and easily ride your bike around the Queenstown Basin.

Rosie Hill

Chairperson
Rosie is a lawyer based in the Wakatipu Basin, regularly advising clients on environmental, conservation, and resource management related matters. As a mother of young children and a sporting enthusiast, Rosie is particularly interested in enhancing the range of trail user experiences and connecting communities along the network.

The trail network will delivers physical, mental and practical connectivity benefits to our community and visitors. Andy is proud to be a part of the team bringing some fantastic projects to fruition.

Mark 'Willy' Williams

CEO
CEO Willy has been in Queenstown nearly 30 years and always enjoyed riding and racing bikes, both on and off road. Willy is passionate about trails and their benefits to the community, economy and environment. Willy has championed the delivery of the latest trails and looks forward to continuing to expand and enhance the Queenstown Trail network.

John Edmonds

John is a local planning consultant, married to Turi with three daughters, all are regular trail users. John is passionate about development of the trail network and the important role it plays in the community. He is particularly interested in new trails and envisages a fantastic range of off-road and commuter trails for walking, running and cycling.

Sarena Glass

Sarena, a sales agent for Bayleys Queenstown, lives in Arrowtown and is married to Simon and has two daughters. Sarena appreciates the work the Trust has done to date and wants to see the connectivity of our trails continue to improve and the implementation of more kids on bikes for ways of transport and particularly to and from school.

Steve first arrived in Queenstown in the 1980s, and loves living in the Whakatipu. A key part of this is the trails, and Steve and his wife Sally are very regular trail users - on both bike and foot. Steve is proud to be on the Trails Trust, and passionate about providing opportunities for recreation and active transport and continuing to develop a world-class trail network in the wonderful Whakatipu

Benje Patterson's experience as an economist and strategist makes him a valuable asset to Queenstown Trails. His projections for bike tourism in Queenstown, and the wider Otago region, paint an exciting and promising picture for the shape of the industry’s future, and are key in shaping the direction of future projects.

Brad is passionate about creating lasting value for visitors and locals, and sees a vibrant, connected trail network as being vital to Queenstown’s wellbeing and future. Outside of work, Brad is an avid mountain biker, occasional runner, and proud dad to two young children.

Gavin Bartlett

QLDC Representative
Gavin Bartlett is the Queenstown Lakes District Council Representative to Queenstown Trails. Gavin is a passionate advocate for community wellbeing, recreation and active travel. A keen cyclist himself, Gavin can often be spotted out on the trails and is looking forward to to maximizing the use of the trails and developing connections throughout the community.

Jonty Edgar is proud to stand as patron of Queenstown Trails and continue the legacy of Sir Eion and the Edgar Family in supporting the immensely important work of the Trust. Queenstown Trails held a special place at the heart and centre of Sir Eion’s generous philanthropic interests. The Edgar Family has committed ongoing support to Queenstown Trails; ensuring development, protection and enhancement of walking and riding in the Whakatipu Basin, now, and for generations to come.

Tony is a long term resident of the Wakatip. Past chairman and trustee of the Queenstown Trails since 2011. Tony is committed and enthusiastic about trails in the Wakatip for the benefit and wellbeing of locals and visitors. He believes establishment of a network of trails is vital for our community, both now and in the future.
