Frankton is a vibrant suburb located at the head of the Frankton Arm of Lake Whakatipu. Home to Queenstown International Airport, and the major state highways that lead north and south, Frankton is the first port of call for visitors to the region.

Development of shopping centres, supermarkets, accommodation and entertainment venues has cemented Frankton as a bustling hub for locals and visitors alike.

Repair, Resupply, Refuel & Restore

With three unique shopping and hospitality precincts, Frankton offers options for eating, shopping, outdoor equipment, clothing and bike retail/workshop requirements for trail adventurers.

Country Lane is a charming collection of boutique stores and cafes located in a cluster of restored heritage buildings. Five Mile and Queenstown Central shopping centres are located right next to each other, with a wide range of shops including outdoor gear, pharmacies and plenty of dining options. Remarkables Park includes bike retail stores and workshops, delicious food offerings, a cinema, indoor climbing centre and wellness/recovery offerings.

In addition to the shopping centres, there are cafes, restaurants and breweries throughout Frankton, as well as bike retail and workshops on Glenda Drive. Remarkables Market, open Saturday mornings spring to autumn, is packed with food and craft stalls.

For restoration and recovery needs, Frankton has it all — boasting dozens of massage, day spa, fitness centres and saunas, Frankton is a wellbeing and recovery hub.

Trails

Arrowtown is the gateway to Mahu Whenua, a 55,000 hectare eco-sanctuary that boasts stunning hiking and biking through dramatic alpine landscapes. There is a vast and varied offering of hiking, walking, running and biking trails — from gentle river-side rambles to multi-day alpine expeditions.

Arrowtown forms the start/finish point of several of the Queenstown Trails, making it a great base for your trail adventures, as well as an ideal recovery destination to visit mid-ride. The Countryside Trail links Arrowtown to Frankton and Waiwhakaata Lake Hayes. The Wharehuanui Trail travels along the foot of Coronet Peak to Arthurs Point (and access to the epic mountain biking trails of Coronet Peak). The Arrow River Bridges Trail heads towards Gibbston and is a popular day-ride for those wishing to sample the incredible wine offering of the region. For those looking for a challenging backcountry epic, the Coronet Loop starts and finishes in Arrowtown — one of the best cross-country rides in New Zealand.
